One Day Special Rate (May 26)

Every couple of months or so, I try to do a one day special rate where you can receive 3-5 images for only $50. This past weekend I had a successful day of this. Despite the rare humidity of Connecticut, my clients were wonderful troopers in creating some images with me. Here are some of my favorites from the shoots:

Thank you everyone who are within these images for making this day a success full of memorable photographs!

My Engagement Day & Photographing Our Moment

Kevin and I have known of each other since May 2009, but it took us until November 2009 to meet in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. Our first photograph was made on November 18, 2009, and we decided that was our day we started dating. Let us fast forward to May 10, 2012, in the same historic town of Charleston. That late morning, I had my first Philly cheese-steak ever, and it was delicious. We then decided to drive to Folly Beach where we had our first date. I remember in November 2009 the tide was very high, but I had never seen the tide quite this high before on that day. We had to walk a little bit further down to get the spot we wanted. I then decided I wanted to make a photo of us on the beach, and he chose to just have the shore behind us. Below is one of the photographs we made during that time with a camera remote he actually bought me about a year and a half ago:

I went back to my camera to make sure the settings I wanted were correct, and then I went back to him. He looked at me and this was when I wish I could have had a video because it all happened so fast. I remember him saying "I love you," and then he got on one knee and with a smile he asked, "Will you marry me?"

In this moment I was in such shock, but I also remembered we were making photographs and in the midst of this wonderful time, I quickly tried to find the button on the camera remote and made this photograph of us and I'm so happy I caught out emotions in this.

I, of course, said yes, and we had a few passer-bys to applaud us. Have you ever had a moment where you forget everything around you and it is just you and the one you love? I've been very Fortunate to experience that.

After we got off of Folly Beach, I wanted the first person to know after it was made official to be my mother. If it wasn't for her, I would have not met Kevin, and I am forever Thankful for her and that is just one instance. I actually found out after he proposed that many people we know already knew he was going to ask, including the hair stylist who trimmed his hair at the North Charleston Mall just a couple of hours before he proposed.

We walked through downtown after all those shenanigans. During that, I made this photo with my ring:

There was one thing I asked Kevin to buy me while we were downtown, and that was a dyed Charleston flower. I love it so.

Of all the beautiful couple dipped kiss photographs I've made, I finally have one with the one I Love. I was very meticulous about this photograph, but it was well worth it I believe.

Thank you, Kevin, for making this the best day of our whole vacation, and it wasn't just because you proposed to me. I'm very lucky to have you. There will be difficult times ahead, but the happy moments I have with you make it worth it a thousand times over.

Always,

The Pettengill's

A couple of days ago I was worried about the weather for a shoot that afternoon. Luckily and very Thankfully, the weather was my perfect lighting with some great fog, and the rain held off the whole time we were photographing. I'm very honored to photograph this beautiful family as the husband soon deploys. Regardless of me also being a military significant other, I'd also like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice (I really say this for the whole family as we all sacrifice as being with someone in the military to have our freedom in this country). I'd also like to add lil' Imogen is an amazing baby to photograph and knows her name very well!! Here are some of my favorites of the beautiful happy moments this lil' family shared with me:

May you always celebrate your love as happy as it is shown here.

Tara B. @ 30 Weeks Pregnant

Our shoot on Sunday was rescheduled to today due to rain. We had warmer weather, which was a great thing since over half of the shoot was located at the shore. I had a lot of favorites from our shoot, but here are just some I picked:

I had been wanting to do this pose for a while, and Tara was my first pregnant model to try this out.

I loved this in black & white.

I was so happy with this shot. I had wanted to photograph with these trees ever since I saw how beautiful they were in bloom. This photograph we made together came out so much better than I imagined in my mind.

The photograph on the left is very similar to the first in this entry, but I loved the flow within it.

Congratulations to the Badillos on their soon-to-be 3rd daughter!

Nathan + Nan Prouse Wedding

I have known Nathan & Nan since elementary school, and Nan is actually a long distant cousin of mine through marriage (I'm from a very small town where it seems everybody is related to everybody). I was so honored when Nan asked me to be her wedding photographer. She already said years ago when she got married I'd be her photographer, but it is more of a privilege when it's real. From Savannah, GA, for their engagement portraits to a small town of Pineland, SC, for her bridal portraits to their marriage in my small hometown of Batesburg-Leesville, SC, I have beamed to photograph their joyous moments they'll cherish for many moons to come. Here are some of my favorites from their wedding day:

The lovely D.I.Y. boutineers (Almost all of the decorations made for their wedding were done by Nan, Nathan, and their family!)

These photographs were so fun to create with the groom's party. The one in the center is of the best man and groom.

The sweet D.I.Y. bouquets!

They each made one of these wreaths to have on the church doors! Crafty!!

Nathan is with their get-away Corvette in front of the church while Nan is behind the church with the famous Mt. Ebal tree that has been at the church probably since the church was built in 1832. It is always a joy for me to photograph the bride & groom before the ceremony, always making sure they don't see one another.

The bride with her bridesmaids.

Nan's sister, Reta (maid-of-honor), plays one more game of thumb war with her sister, Nan (bride), as a couple of the bridesmaids watch in laughter.

Every wedding now I try to photograph the groom's first facial expression as he sees his bride walking to him. Nathan in his true Marine-self shows a small smile before the ceremony begins.

A great thanks goes to my mom for the photo on the right. She's a wonderful photo assistant.

This capture of Nathan looking at his bride makes me smile.

It's official!

Nathan, I'm sure a lot of husbands feel this way. Thanks for your humor to create this photo!

The whole wedding party was a great sport in creating this photo! It only took two tries!

I loved creating this photo!

I'm in love with how they look in this photograph together. Nan, you wore your wedding dress so well, and I love how your hand is with Nathan's here.

Their first dance to "At Last" by Etta James.

The photo on the left is the father/daughter dance, and the one on the right was Nan's father giving her a kiss before he gives her away.

I loved seeing one of my favorite bridal pictures I've ever done on display at their wedding with the candy bar during the reception.

The beautiful Marine garter Nan wore was quite classy.

A Southern wedding was perfected by changing the champagne to sweet tea in mason jars for the bride & groom's toast.

I'm so happy with this image. Right at this very moment, Nan found out where Nathan was taking them for their honeymoon. All this time, we knew he kept their honeymoon a secret. Nan's beautiful expression of surprise happened when she found out they were going to Cancun.

Nan is a beautiful, classy, and very elegant woman. This photo exudes that.

Congratulations to the fullest to Nathan & Nan. Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity. Stay beautiful.

Always,
Des'ola
