The Brown's

Victoria is one of my favorite pregnant women I've ever photographed. She beamed with strong femininity! Yesterday I got to photograph her new little family. Here are my favorites from our shoot with her, Marcus, and baby Malcolm!

Baby Malcolm was not enjoying the wind and cold weather (it was around 45 degrees).

I have loved this tree ever since I saw it for the first time in March of 2010!

Congratulations to y'all! :)

The Barnhart Navy Homecoming

I've known Jennifer for a few months now. I did a boudoir shoot for her as a gift to her husband who was at the time still in Iraq. For 7 long months, her and their two children were away from him. I was honored to photograph him coming home to see his wife and to surprise their children the next day. Here are some moments captured:

This face of admiring her husband's presence in front of her makes me smile with her.

Their daughter, Katie, made this for her dad months before he even came home. Jennifer knew if she didn't put it up she'd hear it from their 9 year old daughter!

Scott's reaction reminded me a lot of his father. I knew he was very happy to see his dad, but he had the silent shock reaction.

We were then on our way to surprise Katie at her school after this image was made.

Katie's reaction to seeing her father was priceless. I'm so happy I was able to capture this photograph of her running. When she saw him, she yelled out, "Daddy!" and I'll probably never forget this moment for as long as I live.

My favorite image made during Barnhart's homecoming. I love Jennifer's smile adoring her husband's and their daughter's reunion after 7 long months.

Seeing them like this before I saw them in the viewfinder choked me up. Holding back tears, I said to them, "Aww, all of y'all are together again." It was wonderful seeing a family so in love and happy to be with one another. This is rare it seems nowadays, and I know this will be a family portrait of theirs to cherish for many seasons to come.

I'm so happy for y'all. Thank you for your sacrifice and Welcome Home.

Sharon + Chris Engagement

I have known Sharon for quite a few years now (since high school!). As a gift for her wedding, I gave them a mini engagement session in a field close to my parents' farm. I really loved the feel of this session. So cute, quaint, and above all: beautiful. Here are my favorites!

I had no idea there were so many bugs in this field until I saw this image. I actually like what they added to it, haha.

Congratulations, Sharon and Chris. I also want to personally thank you for making your wedding date where I could be there! It was wonderful to see all of us friends together in celebration of your love.

Ashley & Zach's Holiday Wedding

One week ago today, I had the privilege to photography someone's wedding I have known since elementary school! I always loved her spirally curly hair (and I took mine for granted when I had it!) and it was nice to know someone who was the same height as me growing up. With a blind date her mother set up, she found her husband! The entire wedding was simply classy located at the Jasmine House in Columbia, South Carolina, and I can tell there was a lot of work which went into it! A huge round of applause goes to the people (especially the family) for making the wedding spectacular. So, without any further adieu, here are some of my favorites from their wedding:

I loved the back of the bridesmaid dresses.

The groom and his party.

The bride and her party.

The bridesmaids had a smart thing going. They duct taped the bottom of their shoes to their feet to make sure their shoes wouldn't slip as they walked.

Here is one way to take the edge off before saying your vows.

Her mother's kiss before the bride walked down the aisle.

I loved her expression as she walked into the building to walk down the aisle.

The photograph on the right is their first photo made together after their first kiss as husband and wife.

The groom's party carrying the bride. I never noticed Ashley's heels 'til now and I love them!

The whole gang. We needed a silly photo before the reception began!

One of the bridesmaids and the bride share a smile.

Their first dance. I love how true her smile is and his gaze on her in this image.

Before the father and daughter dance completely ends, he gives her a great big hug.

Another father and daughter dance. I love her smiles through every dance she had.

I was holding back tears before this dance, and then I just let them fall as I made some images of her mother & daughter dance. What got me was I hope to have a mother & daughter dance at my wedding with Mama and seeing this as they danced to "I Hope You Dance" just challenged me to have the images in focus since I was silently crying! Simple beauty.

Another mother & daughter kiss.

Detail of their wedding cake the bride's aunt created!

Aw, Zach, not nice to treat your wife like that!

But that's okay because she got you back!

The bride and her two sisters dance.

Congratulations to the fullest, Ashley & Zach. May you more happier moments than sad.

Ashley W. as a Bride

I have been waiting anxiously to post these! This past Saturday I had the honor to photograph Ashley and her new husband, Zach's, wedding. In September, I photographed her bridal portraits and I was in awe of her dress. Here are just some of my favorites:

I want to mention how much I ADORE the simplicity and loveliness of the left photo. I love the back of her dress so!

It was somewhat humid on this day and rain waited for us to finish our shoot. Storm clouds were rolling in, which I am always welcoming with photos as long as the rain doesn't interrupt!

I am loving this image of her toes peeking out from her dress.

Congratulations, Ashley. A beautiful bride you were and I am currently working on your wedding photos. Thank you for giving me the honor to photograph your special day.
